A calculator backed by an explained method.

SlushWise does more than repeat a recipe. It turns the sugar concentration printed on your own drink into a batch-specific machine check, shows the arithmetic and separates a calculated minimum from anything that has genuinely been tested.

Why the bottle label matters

A drink can taste sweet and still contain almost no real sugar. Diet and zero-sugar products commonly use sweeteners, while similar-looking Original, Zero and reduced-sugar bottles can have very different nutrition. That is why SlushWise asks for the “of which sugars” per 100 ml value rather than guessing from the brand name or taste.

Search is a shortcut, not the final authority. Open Food Facts is community supplied and manufacturers reformulate products. Compare every result with the physical bottle you are about to pour. If the numbers differ, use Build My Slush with the current label.

What SlushWise calculates

For the current UK Ninja SLUSHi range, the calculation uses a 5 g sugar per 100 ml machine minimum. It subtracts the drink’s existing sugar, scales the shortfall to the batch volume, and rounds a positive dry-sugar correction up to the next whole gram.

For example, 950 ml of a drink containing 4.5 g sugar per 100 ml has a 4.75 g shortfall, so the calculator displays 5 g. A 950 ml zero-sugar batch has a 47.5 g shortfall and displays 48 g. These are machine-minimum calculations, not claims about ideal sweetness or a personally tested texture.

Where the calculator stops

Sugar concentration is only one part of a frozen drink. Starting temperature, volume, alcohol, carbonation, dissolved ingredients, selected programme and the exact machine model can all affect processing. SlushWise does not pretend that one number replaces the owner guide.

Use the result before pouring, stay inside the marked fill limits and dissolve any permitted correction fully. If a batch is already running, record its real volume and everything already added before using Rescue My Slush. Stop recipe troubleshooting for leaks, electrical smells, cable damage or repeated mechanical faults.

  2. Read the current drink.Use sugars per 100 ml from the prepared drink, not calories, carbohydrates or bottle total.
